The University of Utah’s 2022 Notification of Admission

This project began as a challenge to completely re-design the admissions packet. The previous year’s packet was a trifold with a white cover and a collage of images edge-to-edge on the inside. The goal was to capture excitement, however, the 2021 packet appeared too cluttered.


The Strategy

To invoke excitement and update the aesthetic of the packet we approached the design with the audience in mind. The packet cover includes the logo and the university’s signature hand sign, all in a spot-UV finish over soft touch stock. This creates a contemporary appearance that is relatable to students with finishes that convey a high-end experience.


The Process

I started this project in phases that explored our team’s desire to try new features in the packet. These explorations included versions of the packet with a mailing window, vertical pockets, and a variety of imagery. Ultimately, my manager and I were satisfied with the classic look of the packet as a red cover with the logo and hand sign. Additionally, all assets I designed for inserts aligned with the imagery on the folder.
