Salt Lake Community College Celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
I worked with The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at SLCC to produce designs to market Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage month events. This project required several marketing assets from posters, to social media graphics, website headers and more.
The Strategy
The office requested that the designs reflect diversity and vibrant imagery for this project. The theme of the month’s events was “Community”, with an emphasis on “unity”, as directed from the student groups involved in the programs. Additionally, the student groups requested a logo with tropical flora and a cloud illustration derived from Asian folk art.
The Process
I chose a color palette and set of textures that alluded to an array of landscapes and evoked a sense of optimism and celebration. Yellow-orange gradients, teal waves, deep blues, and earthy greens with beige accents, were all part of my process to bring together bright eye-catching designs for the month’s events.
